Spider veins (thread veins) are small red, weblike networks of blood vessels that can
appear on the surface of your legs, feet, or face. They are usually harmless, but some
people may want to remove them for cosmetic reasons. In some cases, spider veins can
also cause pain or burning sensation, especially after standing for long periods. Spider
veins can occur on your legs or feet if the valves that are present in your veins get
damaged. As a result of this, blood may not flow freely through the valves, and begin to
pool inside, causing a bulge. These veins can appear on the face due to many factors
including sun damage, bursting of blood vessels, and increased pressure in the area.
Dermatologists treat spider veins with the help of laser light by directing the light directly at the veins, without causing any damage to your skin. Removal of spider veins with the help of laser light is a painless, non-invasive treatment that will completely clear the appearance of spider veins after 3-4 treatments.

How Does Spider Veins Treatment Work?
In the past, leg vein treatment was painful and invasive, but today virtually painless
beams of light can solve this problem quickly. In just a few treatments, your
unsightly veins will fade from view, while you take centre stage poolside. Laser
light penetrates the skin, raising the temperature of the blood vessel and safely
coagulating it. Treated veins gradually shrink and become less visible or disappear
altogether. The laser allows for customized treatment of veins, including some of those
that do not respond to other treatment methods. Treatment may vary from 15-30
minutes. Multiple sessions spanning several months may be necessary, but the exact
number of treatments depends on the size of the vein and your body’s ability to heal.
During your consultation, you will receive an estimate of the number of treatments
required to obtain optimal results. No special pre or post treatment care is required, but
patients are advised to limit sun exposure and use sunscreen for several weeks before
and after treatment.
What Are the Most Popular Treatment Areas?
While spider veins may appear anywhere on the body, the areas that are most affected
and treated are:
- Thighs
- Ankles
- Calves
- Feet
What Are the Benefits of Skin Rejuvenation?
- Small spider veins may disappear immediately after treatment
- Complete clearance of larger spider veins after just 3-4 sessions
- Safe and effective
- Non-invasive, non-surgical
- No anesthesia
What To Expect Post-Treatment?
You might experience slight swelling, scarring, hypopigmentation, or bruising, which
should usually go away on its own after 24-48 hours. These symptoms can however be
prevented by wearing compression stockings after the laser treatment. You will notice
the disappearance of small spider veins after a single session, but more than one session
is needed to completely get rid of larger spider veins that are more visible. Avoid high
intensity activities and standing for longer hours, after the treatment.
